Welcome to the Club

If you know me, you know that I'm passionate about mental health and an avid reader. As a licensed professional counselor, I'm constantly looking for new ways to deepen my understanding of mental health topics and share valuable resources with my clients.

I know that many of you are also eager to enhance your own knowledge and well-being. Reading is a great, cost-effective way to engage with mental health content, providing insights and strategies that can complement therapy.

As you may have noticed, I am dedicated to renewing well-being in part through education, which is why I'm so excited to launch this mental health book club series. In each post, I'll dive into a book related to mental health, self-care, or personal growth, offering a detailed review, my key takeaways and actionable reflections that you can use in your own life. I'm also hoping to create space for thoughtful discussions around the books we explore together.

The goal of this series is to share my thoughts on mental health books, provide insight into valuable strategies for growth, and help you integrate these concepts into your own life. If you're an avid reader or someone looking to enhance your mental health journey, I'd love for you to join me and read along!

How It Works:

Each blog post will include a detailed and honest review of the book I have read, focusing on:

  • The strengths of the book

  • Main takeaways and how I incorporate this education into my therapy practice

  • Summaries of key concepts for those who didn't read along

  • Reflection questions or journal prompts to deepen your understanding of the material and how it connects to your life

At the end of each post, I will announce the next book we will be reading and the date for the next review so you can read along with me and join in on the discussion.

The First Book: "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking" by Susan Cain

I'm so excited to kick off our mental health book club with Susan Cain's Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking. This New York Times bestseller spent eight years on the list and has been on my personal TBR (to-be-read) list for a long time. Quiet delves into the complex world of introversion versus extroversion, offering insights into the strengths and contributions of introverts, a trait often overlooked or undervalued in our society. This book is perfect for anyone looking to understand the dynamics of introversion, social energy, and how to embrace your authentic self in an often noisy world.

I'll be posting my review of this insightful book on April 15, 2025. In the meantime, grab your copy of Quiet and read along with me!

Join Me on This Journey!

Please share your thoughts, reflections, and personal insights on the book in the comment section or on my social media - Instagram or TikTok. This is a community of learners, and I want everyone to be a part of this meaningful conversation!
